Norway | Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra speaks out for the IOW

Germany | Orchestras and choirs show a yellow card!



The musicians of the SWR Symphony orchestra (Baden-Baden and Fribourg) show a yellow card to denounce the budget-cuts that are threatening orchestras and opera theatres under the pretext of a consolidation of public finances.

On the first photo, musicians are rehearsing with guest conductor Ingo Metzmacher. The orchestra is threatened inits very existence by a planned merger with the Stuttgart radio orchestra.

France | Press conference about IOW on Nov. 17th

US | ICSOM joins the IOW

The International Conference of Orchestra Musicians (ICSOM) represents over 4,000 musicians from 52 major symphony orchestras throughout the United States, and is a Players’ Conference of the American Federation of Musicians.

On Nov. 14th, ICSOM has officially announced its support to the International orchestra Week (IOW). Its members are encouraged to express their solidarity with the endangered orchestras around the world, and to take part in the IOW with any initiative they will deem appropriate.[…] Read more
